3 Latest Instagram Tips for your Business Page
We already know that social media can be a great method of communicating with people who have already expressed interest in your business and its products or services – that’s old news! But are you keeping up-to-date with all of the features Instagram has to offer?
It’s not just about staying on-trend – there are many features Instagram has implemented to make the platform better suited towards businesses. Here are three ways to properly utilise the business tool that is Instagram.
1. Content substance and consistency
Let’s start with the basics. Much like the delicious chocolate cheesecake I gobbled up last night, a strong Instagram post needs to have rich, quality ingredients – you need to be communicating something of value. Something that makes the audience stop the mindless scrolling to pay attention to your specific post. Secondly, you need consistency. If your posting schedule is ad-hoc, your posts may come across as an afterthought. A consistent posting schedule is important to keep your business in your audience’s feed. It keeps you top-of-mind. Tools such as Later or Hootsuite exist to help with post planning and scheduling to ensure you have a consistent flow of quality content pumping out into the world.
2. Posting times
When you just want to share a snippet of your life on Instagram and don’t really care about numbers and stats, posting times might not matter all that much to you. However, when you’re running a business, it’s important that the messages you put out there reach as many people as possible. It’s all about making the most of every single post! If you’ve never looked into the insights of your business profile, it’s high time you did just that. It’s important to know not only who you’re talking to, but when they are most active online! For instance, if your main audience are typically individuals working in 9-5 jobs, these people are often more active right after 5pm. The day is over, so they pick up that phone that’s been sitting idle for the past 8 hours and start scrolling! Your audience’s most active days, and hours within those days can be found in your Instagram profile insights. Be sure that you’re scheduling your posts accordingly.
3. Instagram ‘Guides’
“What are you talking about?”, I hear you ask. Ever noticed the little brochure icon on some profiles? One of Instagram’s lesser-known features might just be one of the more useful ones for potential clients or customers coming to your Instagram profile for the first time. It’s a feature that’s been around since the end of 2020, and it allows for you to curate and categorise posts (yours and others), products and locations. The uses for this are almost endless. Own a hairdressing salon? Create a guide with posts of clients’ coloured hair, one for recommended products, one with hair styling tutorials, and another one with the various locations in which you operate, if you have more than one. Guides are a great way to create a one-stop-shop for your audience to find information they’re looking for at a glance. To add guides to your Instagram profile, go to your profile and tap the ‘+’ icon in the top right corner of your screen.
