Locals know Bathurst as ‘BX’, a historical term used for mapping the region. ‘BX Marks the Spot’ marries this local name with the concept of X marking the spot of a hidden treasure, as Bathurst is filled with hidden treasures.
The campaign logo features a block B with a dotted line marked through it, leading to an X. This is reminiscent of a treasure map.
WISDOM developed this local pride and buy local campaign which included digital and social media advertising, posters and billboards, social graphics and videos, website graphics, merchandise, and an industry toolkit for local business operators to get involved.
A social media competition was created as part of the campaign where locals were encouraged to venture out into the Bathurst region and find or make an X, then share it on social media (tagging @visitbathurst). Prizes included weekly merch packs and a major draw package of Bathurst treasure.
